Rural
Community Revival |
| Introduction |
| • |
This program intends to introduce
the experience for Korean Rural development into
the Asia-Pacific
Regionals' rural areas, thereby improving their
conditions of poverty-stricken life of living.
The movement is effective to drive out the poverty
in this area. |
| • |
It is known that the per capita GDP of Asia-Pacific
rural area is less than US$ 500 and those of its
rural area do not reach the average level of GDP. |
| • |
The productivity of agriculture is low and the
opportunity for compensating the low income of farming
is rare. Hence the prospect of its rural area is
gloomy. Especially, the productivity of rice farming
is very low, that makes the vicious cycle of poverty
sustained. |
| • |
The low agricultural productivity is inter-related
with poor social overhead capital, drinking water
problems and the shortage of water in dry season
for agricultural purpose. |
| • |
Therefore, Asia-Pacific rural area expects the
cooperation of the outside world, because it lacks
its
own capability of improving the rural life. The
Korean New Village Movement that is based on
diligence, self-help, cooperation, makes the member
of the rural community active and effective for
enhancing the productivity of farming and the way
of life. |
